Who Must Apply For Sasol Bursaries Scheme?
Sasol bursaries scheme gives preference to those candidates with an exceptional academic record. Due consideration is also given to those individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who meet our minimum requirements. Applications for a Sasol bursaries close on 28 February of each year. We receive, on average, 5000 bursaries applications each year. These applications are screened by our recruitment office and results in between 300 and 400 individuals being invited to attend an interview. Of these, only 80 to 100 will be awarded a Sasol bursary.
The number of Sasol bursaries awarded each year is dependent on the business need. Consequently, failure to secure a bursary is not necessarily due to poor performance on the part of the applicant but may be a reflection of insufficient business demand. Sasol is a petrochemical company and hence the majority of bursaries awarded are in the engineering, science and commerce fields listed under fields of study.
