Basil Read Bursaries For 2013

Basil Read Bursaries are accepting written bursary applications from students who want to pursue further studies in any of South Africa universities.

Who Can Apply For Basil Read Bursaries

Grade 12 learners and students with Maths and Science

Basil Read bursaries are offered in the following fields of study:

BEng or BSc Engineering (Civil);
BEng or BSc Engineering (Mining);
BSc (Architecture);
BSc (Quantity Surveying);
BSc (Geology); and
BSc (Metallurgy)

Basil Read bursaries are allocated on annual basis and the students will have to re-apply in the beginning of the year if they achieve satisfactory results. Full bursary details

Funza Lushaka Bursaries For 2013

Funza Lushaka Bursaries are only awarded to South African citizens. Applications will not be considered unless the applicant has a valid South African ID number. Applicants for the bursary must already have been accepted into an appropriate study programme at a recognized higher education institution. Applicants also need to meet certain admission criteria of the institution and they must also meet the national selection criteria for Funza Lushaka bursaries.

Who Qualifies for Bursaries

Three types of qualifications can be funded. These are shown in the table below. The qualification must include subjects which will allow the student to specialise as a teacher in at least one priority area (see next section below).

(i) 4-year Bachelor of Education degree (B Ed), specialising in Foundation Phase (Grade R – 3), Intermediate Phase (Grade 4 – 6), Senior Phase (Grade 7 – 9) and FET Phase (Grade 10-12).

(ii) 3/4 -year Bachelors degree e.g. Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Technology in fields suitable for admission to the one-year Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). Application for funding for a Bachelors degree implies that the applicant commits to enrol for the PGCE upon completion of the undergraduate degree. Full bursary details

Rand Water Bursaries 2013

Rand Water Bursaries scheme is aimed at meeting the needs of the organisation. The bursaries are awarded to persons from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. These bursaries are open to all, including children of staff, who compete on the same basis as external applicants.

Absa Bursaries For 2013

Absa bursaries will be made available to students studying degrees that will provide essential or identified skills within the Financial Services Industry. Any one is eligible to apply for a bursary, provided that you are able to show that:

  • you have not received any other bursary for the same period for which you are applying for sponsorship from Absa
  • you are pursuing a course of study in a discipline that will benefit the Financial Services Industry
  • you are academically proficient
  • you have registered at a recognised Tertiary Education Institution in South Africa
  • you are a South African or Namibian citizen
